Second & Third Grade — where students look inward to grow and outward to connect.
In our second- and third-grade program, our dynamic team of teachers nurtures your young learners through the blossoming of their academic talents, and continues to foster their social and emotional skills. Your student will look inward as they develop skills of reading, writing, and mathematics, as well as exploring the sciences and social studies — and begin to understand themselves as a learner.
Having a growth mindset is emphasized throughout all aspects of the day, as your child develops skills using the tools, supports, and challenges that are appropriate for them. No two students are at exactly the same place — and that's not just okay, it's celebrated.
Your child will also look outward to their peers, teachers, family, and their greater community at school and beyond — to gain an appreciation for a diversity of thought, perspective, culture, and identity.
Your second and third grader becomes ready to investigate how things work, challenge their assumptions, and learn that there can be more than one right answer.

Every student develops skills using the tools, supports, and challenges that are right for them. The emphasis is on effort, progress, and the belief that learning is never a fixed destination.
Students dive deeper into literacy — from comprehension and writing craft to rich mathematical thinking — while science and social studies bring those skills into the real world.
Students look outward — to peers, teachers, family, and the wider community — gaining appreciation for diversity of thought, perspective, culture, and identity.

"Seeing my child's growth at KapKa since kindergarten — seeing her go from grade to grade has been this beautiful, inspiring experience where I wish elementary school had been like this for me."CAMILLE, PARENT OF A 3RD GRADER
